Time to leave a one-star review for Haggleby’s on Yelp, Liam attacks the party, more cookies, more bell tolling, and a hike back up to visit Doya. Maybe everyone’s favorite neighborhood giant albino beaver has something in the muck of her pool that will help. We’ll find out below the break.
Everyone was in attendance for this session. There will, obviously, be spoilers for Nightmare Over Ragged Hollow from The Merry Mushmen along with our mangling of this very fine adventure. My GM comments, as always, are in italics.
2nd of Fall
- Still in the hag’s barrow, the woman who looks like Beatrix but is not dressed right or sound right takes drink orders.
- Nefton is back and already sitting at the lone table. He is, of course, drinking fish wine.
- The hostess is asked if Beatrix has come here. A flash of anger crosses her face before responding no and claiming to not know who this person is.
- Looking closer at their environs, the table and chairs are pretty dirty. Some chairs are sticky with partially dried blood or something similar.
- The hostess departs to the kitchen and returns with a tray of drinks. Everyone has taken their weapons out at this point.
- The hostess is a bit take aback by the weapons. She agrees to show Liam the kitchen so he can see that there is nothing nefarious going on.
- Liam returns, he is wearing a new scarf which has some blood on it. The charade does not succeed and battle is joined. Liam transforms into Orla the hag. The group is able to defeat her.
- Liam and Beatrix are both found in the kitchen, unconscious.
- The hostess is a bit take aback by the weapons. She agrees to show Liam the kitchen so he can see that there is nothing nefarious going on.
- The group leaves the barrow, carrying the still unconscious Beatrix. On the way out, they release the goblin greeter from his bonds.
- They travel a bit and find a spot to camp. During the night, Angel (the goblin reprobate) attempts to sell Lian drugs during Liam’s watch…unsuccessfully. Angel asked to the group to not tell the other goblins about the death of the hag. (What is he up to?)
3rd of Fall
- As they’ll find out later, the bell tolled thirteen times in the morning.
- Beatrix wakens and explains that she heard a twig snap behind her and was knocked out. She’s not sure why Orla decided to take action against her now. Perhaps it is because of everything else that is going on in the area.
- The group tells Beatrix about the ooze thing dubbed Yasha Tar and ask if perhaps it has possessed Tobias and he is in the Temple in Ragged Hollow. Beatrix is not sure that such a possession would account for everything going on. She knows a little about the Dolorous Ichor and there are no tales of it doing all of the things happening in Ragged Hollow.
- On the way back, near the Crossroads, the group heard a horrible slurping sound. They quickly hid in the woods as the noise approached. A ooze like thing, about the size of a grizzly bear, was spotted. It was full of dead and rotting vegetation and all vegetation in its path was dying and rapidly rotting. The smell was unforgettable.
- Branchy was really upset by the thing.
- The group decided that they couldn’t deal with it right now and continued on their way after it passed.
- The make it back to Beatrix’s place and camp.
4th of Fall
- The Temple bell tolls eleven times.
- Beatrix bakes a bunch of cookies and gives them to the party.
- The party returns to town. The Golden Dome has receded a bit more. Still not quite enough to get in but almost…assuming they can get up to the top.
- The group heads north to visit the Goblin Market and Doya in the hopes of getting more resources of some sort. In particular, they were hoping to find the chain that goes with Klag’s Klaw. Beatrix had last seen the chain the Goblin Market.
- At the market, they trade some cookies to Master Neven and get some more wacky tobacky to trade to Doya.
- They also learned that a woman, a bandit named Jethra, had bought the chain.
- The group makes it to Doya’s pool and asks what she might have for trade. Doya digs around in the muck of her pool and returns with four items that are magical: a mask, a brooch, a dagger, and a shield.
And that is pretty much where we stopped the session.
I had the players roll to randomly determine what items were available. That’s as far as we got with creating the items. We didn’t play the week after and our next session is tonight. I totally spaced creating the items. I suppose we may do it on the fly at the start of the session…that might be a bit of fun.
I have a feeling I missed some stuff. Hopefully, the players will fill in my gaps. This might be the shortest recap yet. I’m starting to enjoy their shortness…at least while writing them.
