SitN Session #14: Demons, Rats, and Dent! Oh my!

All of sudden Yuri, Denton, and Ruben come running in the room. Denton is yelling something, I can’t be sure but I think he is saying “…got a dragon in my pocket!” But I am not sure. Anyway, we had just defeated the hobgoblins and goblins but couldn’t save the boy. We have a big discussion on whether to continue on or rest some; some of us are in pretty bad shape at this time. While we are discussing the possibilities, Ruben checks out the plate mail by putting it on. He looks pretty ridiculous with it on but I guess it is the only way to figure out if it has any magic. Tyrande takes the plate mail from him and says she will take it back. Denton picks up the spiked chain mumbling something about chaining a dragon. After a long discussion, and some helpful suggestions from Bertran, we decide to push on.

There are three sets of doors we can go and we choose the middle set to start. It’s a long corridor with stairs going down. As we go down, I am feeling colder and some of the others start to feel it as well. We come to a room that has rocks in that are 8 feet tall. It seems that the more we get into the room the colder it gets. Ruben states “There is no magic in here.” There is a door at the end of the room; We open door and there is a another corridor with another double door. We go in and there is a large sarcophagus. On top of the sarcophagus are a very large helm and a necklace of teeth. Bertran starts to run towards the sarcophagus, more likely the items on top of it, but we grab him. Ruben does something and states “there is no magic.” Denton goes forward and grabs the items off the sarcophagus and hands them back to Bertran. Denton lifts the lid on the sarcophagus and finds some bags inside. The bags hold four vials, a holy symbol, coins, an a jewel. The room is a dead end so we head back up and we decide to go thru the doors on the left.

It’s a room with three sarcophagi inside and at the back of the wall a women is chained to the wall. Tyrande comes over and talks to her, turns out that it is Jarisa. Roxy picks the locks on the chain and releases. Tyrande asks her some questions but she doesn’t know much about her captors. Denton works on lifting the lids on the Sarcophagi, he has problems with a couple of them but gets them open; two have just bodies in them the other has a body holding a rod and there are a couple of coins. Roxy fiddles with the rod for a bit and finds out that it is a magic rod, no jokes please, a vicious rod.

We head back into the room and take the last doors on the right; another corridor with stairs going down, we come to a crossing corridor. It looks like the corridor continues down some stairs and some water. We decide to go left down the crossing corridor. We come to some doors, go in, and we are in a room with a symbol of a black sun and there are some ghouls and zombies. We are attacked and several of us get stunned and immobilized. Ruben fires a ray of cold, but the big hero is Deornoth who starts praying and ends with a shout, and several of the ghouls and zombies back away from him. While we are battling these foul undead, we realize when they are on the symbol they seem to regain some of their strength. Some of us go down but we defeat them and we all get back up. Some of us were worried about standing on the symbol but nothing seems to happen when we do. There are some doors on the left and we check them out, a corridor that goes around the corner. Around the corner there are some stairs leading down to a pool of water.

The water is perfectly still, there is a sheen on of water on the walls. Dent just goes walking towards the water, touches it and then he stares at the water. He tells us that he is seeing a room with four sarcophagi in it. Roxy comes down and puts her hand in the pool and sees a room with a statue, does it again and sees another room with one sarcophagus in it. She does it again and it shifts and sees a room with a shrine and shadowy figures and a shield in it. Again she touches the water and it shifts to a room with two thrones; one has a skeleton and the other has a desiccated corpse on it. The next time she gets a room with a two jail sails, the next time a room with a black alter with a woman trussed up on it, a big rat and more shadowy figures. The next time she sees a dwarf chained to an obelisk. Then it comes back around to the original image. We figure out it is a scrying pool and decided to move out to save the dwarf and woman.

We head out the doors across the pool, go around a corner and there is another set of doors. We open the doors and see two undead things attacking a barrier. The barrier is blocking them, and invisible one but all of sudden there is a voice coming from the darkness “Crypt guardians I release you.” The two undead things come right at us. We brought the battle to them and defeated them. We looked in the darkness but couldn’t find the voice.

We head thru another corridor with skulls lining the hall. We come to another set of doors, Dent opens them and we see three rats, pews, and a floating rat coming towards us.
