Shifting Gears

I’m shifting gears and dropping the Pathfinder campaign. It was pretty apparent that the direction I wanted to take the game was not going to work for my group. So, instead, I’ll be running something of a “beer-and-pretzels” Forgotten Realms game centered around the Scepter of Spellgard module from WotC. Pretty much standard 4e rules (maybe a house rule or two).

  1. I lied. I’m going to back away from Spellguard. I’ve read through it and it just doesn’t “fire” my imagination enough to really want to do it. Instead, I’m going to piece together a campaign using (and heavily modifying) some Living Forgotten Realms adventures (Slivers of Eaerlann is the current one), Scales of War, and various other adventure conversions and home-brew stuff in a fashion similar to what I had done with Red Hand of Doom, Temple of Elemental Evil, and various adventures to create the Company H campaign (I bet Dave, who played Sequel, hopes there will be more spider “women”).

  2. Well, maybe Company H-ish minus the multiple layers of plot (more linear plot), many of the significant roleplaying opportunities (like all the Ashby family stuff), and, of course, nothing like the same levels of paranoia by both character and player (where is MaryKate when you need here). That kind of game simply won’t work with the current group of players.
